Sheep Pelt & Blanket Sale
Give the gift of warmth this season. Join us for an evening at Philo Ridge Farm celebrating comfort, community, and the craft of wool. This open-house-style gathering invites you to come and go at your own pace, settle in by the fire, enjoy music, sip a warm drink, and savor light seasonal snacks.
Your ticket includes a cozy beverage, small bites, and a discount toward the purchase of a Philo Ridge Farm sheep pelt. All pelts and blankets will be available for sale in the Market and Dining Room, surrounded by soft candlelight, glowing lanterns, and winter greenery from Horsford Gardens & Nursery.
At Philo Ridge Farm, form follows function, and in the case of our wool, beauty follows function. We raise dual-purpose breeds developed to produce fine-fibered wool on a well-muscled frame. Twice a year, our ewe flock is shorn by shearer Gwen Hinman, whose work embodies the careful choreography between human and animal. The fleeces are skirted, cleaned, and transformed by weaving partners like Peggy Hart in Massachusetts into blankets that are both beautiful and useful.
Our pelts come from animals not kept for breeding, part of our commitment to a whole-animal philosophy that honors every part of the creatures we raise. After harvesting, the hides are salted, cured, and tanned to reveal their natural warmth and character. Each pelt tells the story of a sheep’s life on our pastures, of grass and sun, care and craft, and offers a tangible connection to the landscape that sustains us. Learn more about our wool here.
Come celebrate the season, the farm, and the animals that make it all possible. Warm your hands by the fire, listen to music, and maybe find something truly special to take home.
Live music at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
$35 per person, ticket cost applied toward pelt purchase.
