The Summer Barn Is Open

Centered around a wood-fired oven, the menu celebrates the same ingredients grown and raised at the farm

We’re excited to welcome guests to the Summer Barn, a new casual outdoor dining space centered around simple, seasonal food cooked over a wood fire.

The Summer Barn offers a relaxed new way to experience Philo Ridge Farm. No reservations are required, making it an easygoing option for families, larger groups, and spontaneous visits. Guests can stop by for lunch or dinner, share a meal with friends, or enjoy a glass of beer or wine surrounded by the farm’s pastures and gardens.

“The Summer Barn offers more ways to welcome people to the farm and to share the food that we grow,” said Marc St. Jacques, Director of Food & Beverage and Executive Chef at Philo Ridge Farm. “Everyone has a seat at the table. You can walk in with your kids or a group of friends and enjoy food cooked over a wood fire from ingredients grown a few hundred feet away.”

Centered around a wood-fired oven, the menu celebrates the same ingredients grown and raised at Philo Ridge Farm, including certified organic vegetables and fruits and pasture-raised heritage-breed livestock, prepared in a simple, straightforward style. Guests can expect crunchy seasonal salads, house-made dips and relishes, fresh focaccia, charred vegetables, and simply prepared meats, with dishes designed for sharing and enjoying outdoors.

The evolving menu will be built almost entirely around what is growing and grazing on the farm. Early offerings may include salads, dips, and relishes served with herb focaccia; carrot ’nduja and stracciatella; roasted corn with basil butter and chili; a big green salad with shaved vegetables and herbs; ratatouille; baked focaccia with Sungold tomatoes, zucchini, and cheese; stuffed poblano peppers; green chorizo sausage; and half chicken glazed with honey barbecue sauce. Dishes, formats, and pricing will change throughout the season.

The Summer Barn is part of a broader season of gathering and eating at Philo Ridge Farm, a nonprofit working farm in Vermont’s Champlain Valley. Visitors can also explore the Market, where we offer certified organic produce, grass-fed meats from our nose-to-tail butchery, prepared foods, baked goods, and products from regional producers.

During our opening week, August 12–15, the Summer Barn will serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as our team settles into the new space. Dinner service will follow, with expanded Wednesday-through-Saturday hours from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. No reservations are required. We look forward to welcoming you.
